STRUCTURE.
The next structures are functioning in frames of the NSPU:
Writers’ House organizes and carries out literary meetings and evenings, books presentations, conferences, exhibitions and embraces various clubs by interests.
Foreign Committee maintains direct relations with world literary and cultural institutions, holds meetings with foreign writers, conferences, manages Translator’s Centre, foster publishing of foreign authors books.
Publishing Committee makes expert appreciation of artistic value of manuscripts and cooperates with funds and sponsors capable to support the publishing of the well-known authors of Ukraine.
Studio of Beginners provides with advice young authors, contributes to publishing of their works, carries out different competitions.
A Writers’ Library consists of a wide collection of books and magazines (more than 100000 volumes). The library executes information and bibliographical work, organizes in commemorations of every important event.
Literary Fund lends financial support and gives grants to the members of the SPU, and also maintains rest homes for writers in Irpin’ (near Kyiv), Odessa, Jalta and Coctebel, as well as out-patients’ clinic.
The Union has its own Publishing House (“Ukrainian Writer”) and issues a few of literary and magazines (“Vitchizna”, “Vsesvit”, “Dzvin”, “Berezil” etc.) and a weekly (“Literary Ukraine”). New publishing house (“Granoslov”) and new periodical literary issues are set up.
